I definitely consider myself still in the first camp of tutorialing and not yet a “real” programmer, but it’s inspiring to hear how other people have struggled with the same stuff. You talk about buying fancy books and stocking up on pens — I’ve been there. I think as beginners we are all trying to do things “the right way”, but as you get further and further into developing, you realize that just getting something done at all is really the key. I used to agonize over whether I was choosing the “right” language or framework. Now I’m more focused on making programs that work. To use the guitar analogy, it’s not which axe you play, it’s what you play and how you play it that really matters…
